Hot 97 FM Declares War on Nicki Minaj, YMCMB

After Lil’ Wayne cancelled Nicki Minaj’s set at Hot 97 Summer Jam, which would have featured Lauren Hill, Cam’ron, Foxy Brown and Nas; Funkmaster Flex and Hot 97 let it be known that their move would not be tolerated.

Fans were left in surprise, bewilderment and confusion as Lil’ Wayne cancelled Nicki Minaj’s headline performance at the annual Hot 97 Summer Jam in New Jersey. During her performance at Summer Jam, Nicki was scheduled to have many surprise guests perform with her including Lauren Hill and Nas to perform If I Ruled the World. She also had Busta Rhymes, Cam’ron, Drake, Foxy Brown, Tyga, scheduled to appear with her during her set.

As Hot 97 FM had to quickly scramble to change the performance schedule, reportedly Rick Ross and Maybach Music were to perform before Nicki Minaj. During the show, Hot 97 FM DJ and controversial radio personality Funkmaster Flex spun a 20 minute mix where he threw a barrage of disses towards Nicki and YMCMB.

“We ain’t f-ckin’ wit’ commercial rappers no more! If you lost the f-ckin’ streets, its your fault! If you don’t go gold, its your fault! I’m dedicated to tearin’ you down. F-ck wit’ me!
If you think you ain’t sell any records this time…
If you not buyin’ no more commercial records, hit me on twitter right now!”

Nicki Minaj’s set was cancelled by YMCMB’s Lil’ Wayne after Hot 97 FM radio personality Peter Rosenberg dissed Nicki during the festival pre-show earlier in the day.

According to MTV:

Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg voiced a negative opinion on Minaj’s “Starships,”calling the song “wack,” and adding that she was was no longer ‘real hip-hop,’ which started all of the trouble.

Nicki Minaj and Lil’ Wayne took to their Twitter accounts to express their extreme displeasure with Rosenberg’s comments and Lil’ Wayne announced on Twitter to their millions of followers that they will no longer be performing at the concert.
Peter Rosenberg and his co-hosts defended his comments on his morning show Monday, saying that Nicki Minaj did not want to perform at Summer Jam because of the crowd and used this as a way to back away, telling Lil’ Wayne to cancel her performance.
